Lumiere London cinemagraphs

We've done a few cinemagraphs while enjoying London's first light festival called Lumiere. There were a lot of great installations set up and our favourites are below:

3D photography conversions for NMCH

We were contacted by the National Museum of Contemporary History to help create a unique exhibition they were preparing for the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II at their Cekin mansion.

In their vast photography archives they have, amongst a great many other, a huge number of archival photographs taken on the actual day the war ended. They mostly show the triumphant soldiers arriving in towns and happy residents coming out to greet them. A few of those images were handpicked as particularly interesting and we brought them to life by converting them into 3D.

The task was a technical challenge, and there was a tight turnaround time, but seeing the final prints on the gallery walls made it all worthwhile. It was heartwarming to seeing the visitors' reactions. Some of them were WWII veterans, and were actually there on the day so many years ago, and shared some of their stories at the exhibition opening.

After working closely with the Ursa Valic from the museum to select the most suitable images, the work on the 3D conversions began. Working versions were sent back and forth for feedback and comments during the process, and after being satisfied with the test prints, the final images were printed by a specialist printer. Due to the space and lighting available for the exhibition, as well as budgetary constraints, we opted for conventionally printed anaglyph images and red/blue glasses.

In the end, the opening was a great success and the exhibition was very warmly received. A few photos from the exhibition below, along with two of the final 3D conversions.

Boxing cinemagraphs for KNCKT

As one of the final stages in the KNCKT project, FFM has produced a family of boxing cinemagraphs, made as excerpts from the main video footage. They focus on a few key shots in the boxer's regular training, adding that touch of mystique that these moving photographs tend to do. See the video and read up more about the whole project at the KNCKT website, or enjoy the cinemagraphs right here.

Jungle Queen - Full editorial

A promise is a promise. So by vote of popular demand. We can now show you the full editorial shot by one of our top photographers.

Just to refresh your mind. The Queen was shot in the middle of Mexican jungle. Right next to the mysterious Mayan pyramids, crawling with huge spiders and hidden snakes, jungle so thick the sun barley penetrates the ground. And just to top that, we were also dangerously close to the ocean. The ocean full of one-eyed Pirates and Mermaids and...

Ok, ok so it might not have been all that mystical and dangerous. But somehow admitting that the only real danger were swarms of mosquitos just dosen t have the right ring to it.

Make sure you click on to see the full story and enjoy.

Big Heart collection

The Firma - Big Heart collection, designed by Sanja Grcic and photographed by Matjaz Tancic is inspired by Amelia Erhart, Hannah Arendt and Susan Sontag. Designed with thoughts about sports days and evening parties in working shoes. With the sound of saxophone on the streets of New York.

The Big Heart woman wakes up at seven in the morning, makes her breakfast and takes her children to kindergarten. On the job she's annoyed by her boss or she gets on other people's nerves. She is never completely satisfied. She occupies Wall Street with a bucket of hydrangeas and in she changes into the lady in black in the evening.
The Big Heart woman is not afraid of stepping out of the crowd.

More about the series and additional photographs on the photographer's blog.

Jungle Queen

Once in a blue moon we allow (as if) our photographers to go out on their own and have some fun. No business,  no deadlines, no art directors and most importantly no restrictions. And we are always amazed at what they bring back to show us. This time our photographer Andraz Blaznik surprised us with a bit of warmth and freshness from under the Caribbean sun. Deep in the jungle there is still some beauty to be found. Have a little taste and if you like it we will ask him to show us some more.
